Top 10 Best Pool Cleaning Services in Lewes

Pool Ownership in Lewes and the Surrounding Countryside

Private swimming pools are not something most people associate with a historic English market town, yet in and around Lewes they are more common than you might expect. Larger country homes in the villages of the South Downs, converted farmhouses and contemporary new builds often feature outdoor or indoor pools, while hot tubs have become hugely popular in gardens across East Sussex. Keeping water clean, balanced and safe requires regular attention, particularly given the British climate, with leaf fall in autumn, variable temperatures and the need for seasonal opening and closing.

Professional pool maintenance has become more sophisticated, with automated dosing systems, variable-speed pumps, robotic cleaners and remote water monitoring now widely available. Specialist providers help owners get the best from these technologies while reducing chemical and energy use.

How We Selected These Providers

We considered range of services, including routine maintenance, green pool recovery, equipment repairs and seasonal servicing, as well as coverage of the Lewes area, expertise and reputation. We have also included respected brands whose products and technical support underpin local pool care.

Trends in Pool Care

Energy efficiency is a leading priority. Variable-speed pumps, heat pumps for pool heating and insulated covers can significantly reduce running costs. Smart monitoring allows owners and service providers to check water chemistry remotely, while robotic cleaners reduce manual work. There is also rising interest in alternative sanitation methods, such as salt chlorination and UV systems, which can reduce harsh chemical smells and improve swimmer comfort.

Environmental awareness is shaping pool care in Lewes as elsewhere. Owners increasingly want to minimise water waste during backwashing, reduce chemical usage and choose eco-friendly products where possible.

Tips for Choosing a Pool Service

Decide whether you need full-season maintenance, occasional visits or seasonal opening and closing only. Ask what each visit includes, from water testing and chemical dosing to vacuuming and equipment checks. Confirm that technicians are trained, insured and comfortable working with your specific equipment. If you own a hot tub as well as a pool, it can be efficient to use a provider that handles both.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a pool be serviced?

During the swimming season, weekly or fortnightly visits are common, supported by regular checks from the owner. Outside the season, a winterisation service and occasional checks are usually sufficient.

Why has my pool turned green?

Green water usually indicates algae caused by low sanitiser levels, poor circulation or warm weather. A professional green pool recovery can restore clarity quickly and safely.

Should I cover my pool when not in use?

Yes. A cover reduces heat loss, evaporation and debris, lowering energy and chemical costs while keeping the water cleaner.

Do hot tubs need professional servicing?

Regular professional deep cleans, including pipework flushing and filter replacement, help keep hot tub water hygienic and extend equipment life.

Conclusion

A well-maintained pool or hot tub is a wonderful addition to life in the Sussex countryside. The specialists and brands above give Lewes homeowners the expertise and equipment needed to keep water safe, sparkling and ready to enjoy whenever the sun comes out.
