Top 10 Best Energy Suppliers in Hastings

Energy Supply in Hastings

Energy bills remain one of the largest household expenses for families in Hastings, and many local businesses have felt the impact of higher costs in recent years. Because Hastings is connected to the national gas and electricity networks, residents can choose from the full range of UK energy suppliers. Switching supplier or tariff is one of the simplest ways to save money, improve customer service or move to greener energy.

Hastings also has a higher than average proportion of older housing stock and households experiencing fuel poverty. This makes choosing a supplier with good support for vulnerable customers, flexible payment options and energy efficiency advice particularly important.

What to Look for in an Energy Supplier

Compare tariffs carefully, looking at unit rates and standing charges rather than headline prices alone. Customer service ratings, ease of contact and billing accuracy matter just as much as price. If sustainability is important, check how much renewable energy each supplier generates or buys directly. Smart meter support and time-of-use tariffs can also deliver savings, especially for homes with electric vehicles, batteries or heat pumps.

How to Save on Energy in Hastings

Switching supplier is only one part of reducing energy costs. Many Hastings homes are older properties with solid walls, draughty sash windows and limited insulation, so energy efficiency improvements can deliver significant savings. Local organisations such as Energise Sussex Coast offer free energy advice, while government schemes can help eligible households with insulation and heating upgrades. Installing a smart meter, using heating controls effectively and running appliances during off-peak periods on time-of-use tariffs can also make a noticeable difference to monthly bills.

If you are struggling to pay, contact your supplier as early as possible. Suppliers must offer support for customers in difficulty, including affordable payment plans and access to hardship funds, and Citizens Advice 1066 can provide independent help.
